Still feel we lost a good one here.

It sure was a bummer he did that.
-
I guess. But what exactly did he do? Looks like he smooched a couple unreceptive women...not good or acceptable, but I'm honestly not familiar with specifics. And has he had a trial yet?
-
Didn’t he resign himself? If so there would be no need for a trial
-
Yes, he resigned. But the allegations were brought as sexual harassment charges. Resignation won't make those go away. Unless other arrangements prevailed, like just accepting his apology, the charges go to trial.

hey our little "chat" got me reinterested in this. Here is an article that was pretty interesting and worth the read. It embodies both of our points.https://www.vox.com/2018/5/21/17352230/al-franken-accusations-resignation-democrats-leann-tweeden-kirsten-gillibrand …

Yes, that is a clarifying article. I'm now convinced the outcome was correct. I still believe Senator Franken was a proponent for women's rights, but, even given there was no investigation, no one gains the 'right' to that behaviour. We're better off.
-
I agree. It was so upsetting for us, too. He did do a lot of good...ugh.

I think that Franken got a raw deal. By far his transgressions were nowhere near as bad as the egregious abuses of power committed by others. Franken’s major sin—it seems to me—was being old school in a new school world.

The media failed to do serious vetting of stories, of which at least 3 (#1, 5, 8) were outright Lies provable by archived Internet data the complainants forgot or didn't know existed. Try the first few tweets in summary threadhttps://twitter.com/JohnMashey/status/1003739017664315392 …

Why doesn’t he re-offer? I bet he could win and what he did was not as bad as many others who didn’t resign or get disqualified.
