Could someone have gotten it through security. Or, did someone, unbelievably, abort while in the ladies room??
-
I suspect that the appropriate term would be miscarry, in which case the fetus likely died in the womb. I’m rather certain that an abortion wasn’t performed mid-flight.
-
Abort is the correct medical term, whether it is deliberate or not. You can ask your gynecologist.
-
Spontaneous abortions are called miscarriages.
-
What did you just call it??
-
A miscarriage is medically called a spontaneous abortion. It is unlikely an elective abortion happened in this situation, as a six month fetus would be removed via a procedure. She likely went into early labor and miscarried on the flight, which is a spontaneous abortion.
-
So awful. I cannot imagine what she must have been feeling. People are going to judge her and say “she should have told someone” or “she just abandoned her baby in a toilet”. Reality is, nobody prepares for this sort of situation. Mentally and physically traumatizing.

This will happen more often because REPUBS wanna take women’s right to birth control away and the right to a safe abortion.

Since you call it fetus then why would you really care?
-
Because it is a fetus, it was three months premature.

Since it's a "fetus" and not a "baby" I guess that tells us a lot about CBS.
-
Yeah, it tells us they use correct terminology. Fetuses are not fully developed into babies. Babies are born, developed humans that can survive independently, and this fetus was three months premature. Likely a miscarriage.
-
No, that's incorrect. Fetus means unborn from the 8th week after conception until birth. We don't refer to premature babies as premature fetuses.
-
Agreed, but being miscarriaged isn't being born, either (as in this case). Babies are independent beings, fetuses still require a womb.
-
Do you have information about the gestational age? I have not seen any reports on estimated gestation. I did see the crew recognized a "foot." If the baby is greater than 20 weeks gestation, we would call this a stillbirth, if determined he or she died in the womb.
-
It was five to six months gestational age
