Because they never made the commands? Did they really think this was the perp? What is the matter with these thug cops today? Shoot first, kill first, then hide behind excuses.

Whether he heard the command or not, he should have known better to have it in his hand while interacting with the police. That just shows a lack of common sense. Its sad, but understandable, from the cops pov

Very sad, tragic story. This man was a hero who protected his family. Rest in peace. Sympathies to the family. My heart goes out to the young grandson. He's been though so much.

This is such a horrible situation. Seems to me like it was just a cluster fuck with too many guns. The man died defending his grandson. Godspeed, sir.

He's HOH (hard of hearing) working with vets that have been in combat some can't hear when they are old your yelling to hold a conversation but your talking to them RIP
-
He had also just fired a gun inside a house. Even without prior hearing damage, his ears would have been ringing (loudly) for a while.
-
Your right about that one quick too use the trigger after police was called and the descriptions of the suspects was not the homeowner one of them died 911 call was placed

His son wants to see video from the body cameras of every cop who was there. Even if he were deaf, aren't police trained to deal with that possibility? It does seem to be that when one cop opens fire they all open fire. His son said his dad died in handcuffs.
