I agree. I love dogs but don't want them or people's kids inside the shopping cart. Who knows if the dog has any fleas, parasites skin problems, etc. And who knows what surfaces the kids' shoes have been on? People's food is going in that cart.

This happens all the time where I work.
-
Kids instead of items in shopping carts is weird and disgusting. Why did this fad start ?

-
Don’t get me started on the teenagers who get in the cart as another teenagers pushes them around. I love telling them to stop and get out.
-
Shopping carts are expensive! Most people don't realize how expensive they are. Too bad you cannot tell them if they damage the cart they'll have to pay for it.
-
I wish we could say that with anything in the store. Yesterday, a kid dumped some lubricant gel on the floor. Silicone on tile is very, very slippery and difficult to remove. A can of Coke did the trick.
-
Coke got rid of it? Pretty slick trick, pun intended.

That’s a lawsuit waiting to happen.
-
Why? This is an employee family owned store. They are allowed to have policies in place. You can bring a service dog into the store...Just don't place it in a cart.
-
Because, the US is a lawsuit type of place. I’m not disagreeing with you regarding the service dogs,
but people do take advantage. -
Yes they do. I've seen a lady with a little ankle biter in publix in a cart. Boy did she get looks.

What about small service animals for diabetics, where the service animal is trained to smell the persons breath, to alert for high sugar catatonic state? If the dog is on the floor, it's not capable of performing the service it's trained to do!

Half the kids I encounter while shopping at Publix need to be on a leash!

Good for them. Can't really think of a reason why dogs need to be walking around a grocery store to begin with. Plus, it's probably a liability....
