WTF?!?! This is one of the reasons there are so many who are fighting government overreach and BIG GOVERNMENT. Most of these requirements are to enable local GVT to collect more money on top of property tax. Why should we have to get permits to improve our own property? safely

I'm not sure how this is legal with ADA.

There’s gotta be more to this story, but why ruin a great headline with facts? Right CBS?

Yes, get a permit, have it properly inspected to ensure it meets ADA requirements. Otherwise, say bye bye to grandma when she takes a spend out there on her own when it collapsed with her on it.

Good job code George’s county .we don’t want 91yr old weelchair bound grand mothers roaming around causing trouble
-
We don't want 91-year-old grandmothers tumbling off an unsafe ramp and breaking their necks. Codes are there for SAFETY.
-
Where does it say it was unsafe upon inspection? The article just states that he failed to get a permit to build the ramp to begin with. Sounds like a Money grab to me.
-
With no permit and therefore no inspection there was no way to prove it was safe. Sounds like legitimate government function to me. BTW, I am in a wheelchair: this matters.

To clarify: "What he did was try to use our electronic system ... We offered for him to come in and sit down with one of our permit specialist, to walk him through the process, and he didn't do that" It's not against ADA to ask for a bldg permit.

Ok..(holding my followers from fleeing)..this..this what those new to socialism don’t get...just this.

That’s a stretch, it’s inflammatory comments like yours that divide our country. Granted both parties are at fault. What would you be saying if an EMT broke his/her back trying to help Grandma out in an emergency?

Two great twitter notes: 1. Learn to read AND understand someone’s bio before you make stupid assumptions. 2. Never “like
” yourself...which is also stupid. -
Ummmm, yah, no.

The county officials are a bunch of assholes. They could have waived the permit, or assisted the poor guy when he spent the $150.

They told him to come in and they didn’t. Changing the structure of you home requires a permit. If they used a metal ramp over the steps no problem. One of their neighbors turned them in for the county to go up there and see it. If you live in a HOA area, you have to do it.
