What else are we supposed to do, tell them to suck it up when they're crushed between college debt and an economy that doesn't value their labor? Kendall Jenner gets lauded as a genius for using her family's money and notoriety but the rest of us shouldn't help our kids out?

"Value their labor"? What kind of labor exactly? Crushed by college debt? What advice did you give them on their selection of school, major and ROI for that degree?
-
College debt? “Labor” while going to school and you can avoid that too.

There's a novel concept

Low unemployment and 4.1% GDP growth mean nothing when people aren’t being paid enough to make it on their own.
-
Live within your means - don’t expect cars, smartphones, $100 shoes, rent w/o a roommate, premium cable, Starbucks coffee, and college tuition payments when your making $400 week (note anybody can make $400 week, if you can’t that’s on you).
-
Even w/o other help, a couple/few ppl can live as roommates and make enough money to live and go to a state college on $400 week.

The 'delays' mentioned to financial independence are not by choice. If you can work a full time job and not earn enough for rent- that's a problem for everyone
-
Let's take a closer look at that point. "Working full time" is a nebulous concept, 30-40 hours a huge variation. Also, full time as a lumberjack is very different from full time at a cash register. "Full Time" is not a standard that really means anything.
-
It's really about living within your means I've lived well below the 'poverty line' my whole life, but I've never needed government welfare. I may not get the nicest stuff, but I still live better than most kings throughout history.

Mom and dad are suckers, and aren't doing their kids any favors.

We have 3 grown children (23, 25, & 29) and not ONE of them ask us to pay their bills! We are middle-class Americans who taught our children self-reliance and responsibility. This article does not reflect all Americans!

I know three millenials that are completely well off financially. 2 are auto/truck mechanics and 1 is an HVAC tech. They paid their schooling off within 5 years. Go to school for a job doing something you can find in the phone book
-
If you want to work for the sole purpose of surviving, sure.
-
Yeah dude, that's the sole purpose. Buy your house, pay off your shit, support you and yours. It's called being a grown up. You can live for your art or whatever but don't complain when it doesn't pay the bills. The term "starving artist" is a real thing.
-
Agreed; however, with the advent of this generation of social media and instant gratification, I feel one of our biggest issues as a society is a lack of passion and ownership.

So when everybody has some sort of college degree in the arts, history, language or any type of ethnic/womens studies you can't find a job paying enough to live on your own. Maybe you should have considered a trade or engineering education were very good paying jobs are plentiful
