Love the last part about the county admitting their online permit system is too complex for people to complete, how about making an easier system, or maybe that what the construction industry wants, keeps people from doing their own work to their own property

You should have took them to court

They would have lost. Get a metal ramp and place it over the steps. It’s not attached and can be moved. Otherwise get the proper permit to construct a proper ramp meeting specifications.

Some County do not require one if they are disable

Lawsuit discrimination against the elderly & disabled -
. That’s just more money out of his pocket. Get a permit if you change the exterior or add on to your house. He would have been smarter if the brought a metal ramp and placed it there. -
Smarter? It may have been more about cost He may not have been able to afford it It would have been helpful if they had resources & helpful solutions for situations as such

-
He could have gotten a metal ramp and placed it over the steps. The County wouldn’t have done anything because it’s not affixed to the house. Anytime you change the exterior you need a permit.
-
Ps, they could have called 311, they would have told him he needed a permit. More than likely, his own neighbors reported him, it may have been constructed horrible for the county to come out anyway.
