Actually this one was completely closed in w/ shut windows, as was the other one that was out at the same time but made it back in. However - the boat never “capsized” as keeps getting reported. It took on water and sank. Such a terrible tragedy.
Never seen them with the metal closed windows and drive past them all the time. Even when I was there awhile ago didn’t see any that didn’t have the plastic. News to me and in that case... they definitely need to be held responsible. Because here’s a 28 min. Warning they had.pic.twitter.com/X2jJJpRjWG
Oh I don’t know whether their plastic, glass, or what - I just meant that in the cell phone videos from the other boat and the Branson Belle that they did have windows and were closed in. The ones I’ve ridden in the past (Wisconsin Dells) just had an awning and open sides
This happened where I live. The plastic windows were down. They couldn’t get out. I have taken these exact rides but they should have never been on the water in that weather. Horrible.
And just to elaborate, I’m not blaming passengers I’m blaming the owners of the company and those who work there putting those innocent people into danger.
does anybody realize how many guys were killed in those deathtraps in WW2? And now 70 years later we let little kids ride in them
Look at those waves and white caps!! The very sad part was that this could have been avoided and just just down the F#cking operation till conditions were better. #duckboatfailure #duckboat
Unbelievably reckless to be on the water in those conditions
How about we all don’t assume we know what the situation was. I live in Ozark. The storm came from nowhere. Yes, there was a thunderstorm warning a few hours before, but the storm legitimately came from nowhere. It went from 0 to 100% in 1 minute. They may have been on their
Saying it "came out of nowhere" is wrong - they had 45 minutes warning. #duckboat #mowxhttps://www.news-leader.com/story/news/2018/07/20/branson-duck-boat-weather-expert-says-warnings-should-have-been-heeded/809555002/ …
The storm went from 0 to 100 real fucking quick. Do you live here? If not, don’t comment.
It was visible on radar for hours! @NWSSpringfield issued warnings WELL in advance of it. Where I live isn't relevant. I feel obliged to correct clueless dimwits, defending a negligent boat owner, who should face criminal chargeshttps://twitter.com/texasembassy/status/1020294325060632580 …
Pop up storms are predictable with significant accuracy. They don't come out of nowhere, not in AR, not anywhere Serious boaters stay apprised of weather conditions whether on rivers, lakes, oceans 17 people are dead because someone wasn't paying attention
It never capsized it just sunk.
Holy shit - do the windows not open on these things? They all just got taken down in basically a sealed box?
They are plastic windows that most generally stay rolled up. Anything sharp would/could puncture right through them easily if they were down. Also, Life Jackets ARE on board. And where it just took on water and never flipped, they could have easily jumped out the window.
This is just awful.
