While a good place to start ideas, Wikipedia is a terrible place to cite as a source and is generally written off. Why? Anyone could have written it, anyone could edit it. Not saying you're wrong, but confirm it with peer - reviewed data or a dedicated primary source.

The Times article is Opinion with information--Wikipedia is a non-profit with no political affiliations other than your perceived interpretation. None of this changes the point that Wiki is not a valid choice when using it to cite a source.
