It’s probably store policy not to intervene in a robbery.

yeeeahhh...that's reasonable when I worked at a book store. If the items being stolen are lethally dangerous, it seems like it's worth the risk.

@NRA what about the guy who saved lives at the Waffel House? Hero or nah? -
Pretty sure everyone hailed him a hero bro, what kind of political statement are you trying to make here?

It's assault. He has no right to lay hands on a customer, regardless of what the customer is doing. Part of the reason that it's tough to be a loss prevention officer at a retailer.

It’s not assault, note he wasn’t arrested. And store employees are allowed to detain people. He was fired because Academy Sports has a policy against stopping robbers, presumably to protect employees from getting shot or such.
-
Just because he wasn't arrested doesn't mean he didn't assault anyone.
-
Maybe, but when the police are called and don’t arrest you it is a pretty good indicator what you did wasn’t illegal.
-
Obviously laws vary by location but here they're not considered a shoplifter until they've left the store without paying, and then the employee can only approach and apprehend without force.
-
Yeah, most of the time if they have a specific register for you to buy something like guns and ammo or jewelry, and you bypass that you have committed shoplifting. Also not saying that employees can suplex the guy but around me the law says “least amount of force possible 2detain

The left is fine with thievery but virtue-signals constantly their hatred of firearms. I wonder what side they'll take here. If they praise the manager, they'll be dumb enough to think they're "normalizing" the NRA. If they don't, they're admitting they're okay with stolen guns.

Seems like a big loss for Academy. Clearly he wasn't a customer if he was stealing.

A Customer? Businesses sure do need fewer of that kind of "Customer"? What fools.

He is a hero and he won't struggle to find another job.
@Academy should be thoroughly ashamed of themselves. -
It'll be on his record for life, why was he fired. He tackled a customer. He needs a gofundme so he can get on his feet.
-
I expect company policy dictates that any robbery should be allowed to take place in case it escalates. Probably all about the company protecting itself from lawsuits.
