i don't see how the boss is in the wrong here, sorry. they have a business to run and she is not an essential worker
-
-
-
Well, the bosses’ boss said she was wrong and you still think she was right?
-
ok mr self righteous what would you do in the boss's position
-
Seriously? I would give her as much time off as she needs.
-
FYI - I have a business with one employee - an admin. Her son had medical issues at boot camp. She took a week off to deal with it. I hired a temp and also paid my admin’s salary for the week. Never considered any other option.
-
apples and oranges. different companies, different employee. you have no idea if this woman was a good enough worker to keep around
-
Her son was on life support! Even if she was the worst employee ever, you don’t fire her when her son is on life support. What’s wrong with you??
-
so they're just supposed to...? keep an employee who doesn't do work? what kind of business model is that lol

@psfoodmart Man this gets me
. I'm sitting here in the ICU with my kid @ this very moment b/c he just had a biopsy on a brain tumor. My employer bends over backwards for me & my family, & b/c of that, my son is still w/us 2day. Good on u for taking care of ur employeepic.twitter.com/1oj6zSENsS

Wrong on both parts, didn’t her employer advise her she’s entitled for FMLA (if it still exists) smh
-
The manager shouldn’t have said it was drama and she didn’t need to miss work even with her son on life support. I’ve missed work and had to text my manager and say I couldn’t come in because I was hospitalized with no date of being released. All they asked me for was for proof
-
I agree with all you say except this “she didn’t need to miss work even with her son on life support” if possible my child will never die alone I’ll be there when they come/goes ijs

She should have went to her Dr for FMLA papers
-
If she was by her sons side, that may have been difficult. The manager shouldn’t have said in the other messages that the company doesn’t need drama and she does not have a reason to miss work. That’s very heartless. I can see why the manager is no longer with the company
-
Still could have been handled that way. Manager was wrong as well but we are responsible for ourselves
-
If that was me in that mothers position, that’s the last thing I would be thinking about if my son was on life support. If your child could die at ANY moment, why would she leave to get paper work filled out? Her texting her boss is better than not saying anything.
-
It is better than nothing. The boss should have said she’d bring her the papers.
