I feel like this is very regional news. Let me know when there are NYC rats in my pool noodles.

(A) That's not a rattlesnake and (B) If it were a rattlesnake, it'd be WAY more freaked out than you.
-
(C) A "freaked out" rattlesnake is not a good rattlesnake to be around.
-
So don't do that.

I've killed two copperhead snakes, one on my sundeck and one on the front porch. The big copperhead on the basketball court, out back, escaped! I tell my nephews to watch for snakes! I live in the city, but the development of land has disturbed their habitats!
-
Be careful!! Copperheads are aggressive and will chase you.
-
That's true! The ones I killed tried to fight back! Since I live in the city and a rocky terrain, I can't shoot them! I really needed a gun for the big copperhead, but I'm fearful of a ricochet bullet.
-
We used to use hoes and cut their heads off. I could never do that now. Been living in the city too long. Lost my edge.
-
LOL! I keep a well sharpen hoe on my sundeck! I lived in the country until 15 years old; I only killed one snake. My dad had a hissy fit because it was a king snake hanging out in the barn.

Except the stock photo used shows a harmless, nonvenomous water snake. Huge difference.
-
You're right except I think it's a gopher snake.
-
Maybe so - this partially image has been around a while. I’ve seen it on other social media with an ID from a herpetologist, but I might have incorrectly remembered the ID!
-
It's just my nature to come down on the snake's side. Last one I killed (40 years ago) had 3 Hanta mice and a huge wood rat in it. Never again. One has denned under my outdoor shower for the past 5 years. Respect. No fear.
