What kind of principal or school official would press felony charges against a 13 year old for that? What a terrible jerk.

I’ll tell you what’s a violation of privacy: Posting a news photo of a 13-year-old boy facing a ridiculous law - and the sick school administrators now enforcing it.

I'm confused why is it if someone breaks the law people get all worked up when they get arrested
-
Because "that's a dumb law to begin with" is valid for many people apparently. It's the dumbest argument one could make
-
People need to wake up its really simple don't break the law wether you agree with it or not and you don't get punished
-
Exactly.

They want to ruin his life for *this*? He was trying to protect himself, clearly not worth making him a criminal. I wish there were cameras everywhere (with actual enforced restrictions preventing abuse, duh) so I can protect myself from people's bullshit. The kid ain't wrong.

Our country has become very sick. There is no good news coming out of America anymore. Truth, Justice and the American way has become a punchline.

He should be allowed to protect himself and if the faculty did not say anything inappropriate, they should not be concerned.

Policies are policies

True- can’t imagine a disciplinary discussion without a parent present- odd- and I would think the admin would record for their own protection if a parent isn’t present

Story lacks important info - exactly who/how contacted authorities and filed the complaint re recorded conversation? Assuming principals did via school district's legal counsel, but would rather know than assume. & Why did "they" feel a need 2 file complaint to begin with?
