Minimum Wage = Minimum Skills! Increase your skills and increase your wage! With Google and the Internet Education is basically free! #study #education

No they're not. That was an incredibly tone deaf statement.
-
right. I'm sure employers would beat my door down with a resume touting my Google-based higher education
-
Correct, but there are free tutorials on YouTube for just about every MS Office product, resume building, interview tips, skills coaching, etc. As an employer I'm shocked how many people can't even spell. Entry level people should have basic skills but don't. Use the internet.

Why does it need to?
-
There's a moral argument to be made that if you work 40 hours a week, you should have a healthy place to go home to.
-
There's also a realistic arguement to be made that minimum wage was never intended to be more than a beginning wage.
-
Right but what's your definition of "beginning"? That's the key you left out.
-
The key YOU left out, was people taking personal responsibility and bettering themselves, instead of getting something for nothing.
-
So what if everyone betters themselves and the full time minimum wage jobs that require adult workers can't be filled?
-
What are these jobs?

Minimum Wage jobs were never intended to be full time jobs
-
They used to be!
-
No they weren't - we used to have a manufacturing base the only people that had minimum wage jobs were kids.

I guess it’s because I gauge it on NYC rent- TOO DAMN HIGH !

-
It wouldn’t have been possible in NJ either where I lived until 1983. That’s why I moved to GA back then. Even in GA in 1983 it wasn’t possible either. I was making $10/hr and still had 2 roommates for a couple of years until I was earning more.
