How in blue hell does a firearm " accidentally " discharge in a nightclub? Was he waving it around for all the ladies to see?

A gun is a machine. Machines malfunction. Never carry with one in the pipe.

The gun didn't malfunction. The agent did. He was drinking and picked it up with his fingers inside the trigger guard. He negligently discharged his weapon. If you can't be responsible enough to carry with one in the chamber, you shouldn't be carrying at all imo.

If there wasnt a round in the chamber it would not have gone off. There is no reason to carry with a round in the chamber.

If there's no round in the chamber, you might as well carry a brick. If his finger wasn't on the trigger, it wouldn't have gone off. If you can't carry responsibly and follow that basic firearm safety rules, you shouldn't carry at all.

I did. It's outdated and dumb. You're assuming your support hand will be free, which is a terrible assumption in close quarters. You're also assuming you're have time to rack that slide. Again, if you cannot follow basic firearm safety, you SHOULD NOT BE CARRYING AT ALL.

Outdated and dumb? Okay.. But just so you are aware, no one in the military walks around with a round jacked until told to do so.

The headline is wrong. The story corrects it. Weapons do not accidentally discharge by themselves. He was drinking. He dropped the gun. He was drinking. He picked it up. He was drinking. He fired it as he picked it up. He was drinking.

"negligently" Guns don't go off by accident. He was clearly being irresponsible, either drinking too much, not using a proper holster, or a combination. That's negligence and he's likily going to face repercussions as such.
