This is great! The business owner made the choice based upon the needs of its workers. The change did not require legislation! Let business owners do the right thing. Keep government out of the way-government only creates more oversight, regulation and expense.
-
Disagree. This is a one in a million capitalist not looking out for their own self interest. If I put out my own house fire you wouldn’t say we can abolish the fire department would you.
-
I believe it is a positive example. The market will decide. Now, if I were a worker in this field, if I could choose between Chik-fil-A and some other lower paying chain, I would choose Chik-fil-A. This should cause others to compete for workers by paying more.
-
Another thing...you are assuming many many things like perfect employee mobility, that the other employers have knowledge of this, the guy won’t have second thoughts after seeing his balance sheet in a few months. This is a pipe dream because consumers won’t stand for it.
-
I still applaud the action! I trust business over government interaction any day, any time. I am assuming this is a single franchisee, who is a small businessman or businesswoman.
-
Then you are destined to suffer at the hands of capitalism. Our archaic economic system is what has given rise to 1% of the population owning more than the majority of the world. Rise to conflict, shootings, hatred, distrust, division and racism and death to the environment.
-
It has also raised more people out of poverty than any other economic structure. Me included. And archaic? It is among the youngest of socioeconomic systems.

My own father came to this country with nothing, not speaking the language and only a 5th grade education. He worked hard to build a business, and I became the first to go to college from either side of my family. I honor his dedication. That creates trust, respect, and life.

I do not believe last paragraph in story that many of current franchise owners of chic-fil-a started as team members. No way that’s true.
-
Only if they did their “team member” stints in high school, went off to college, kept on eating Chik-Fil-A, got into a lucrative line of work, amassed a bundle, and THEN decided to open a franchise. No other way.
