When asked to explain how he could deny the existence of senior White House official Matthew Pottinger, Trump replied, "Well, people are saying it. I'm not saying it. But everywhere I go, people are talking about it."

Come on, @CBSNews ! Dozens of reporters heard Matt Pottinger make the remark. Your tweet implies @realDonaldTrump ‘s comment was legitimate when it was a complete falsehood. The President needs to be held accountable to the truth.

Why would you not add to the headline that the “fictitious” senior White House official is in fact, a real senior White House official who has been named?!

Not making it crystal clear in the tweet and headline that he's LYING and it's provable is contributing to the decay of democracy and our slide into fascism and chaos. Every news source is fucking this up right now. #trumpLies #resist

        4. I've obtained audio of the WH press briefing. You can hear Raj Shah, Deputy Press Secretary, introduce Pottinger (along with the terms - which are standard) and then Pottinger makes the statement that POTUS says was never made. Lots of reporters in briefing room and on phone. pic.twitter.com/2gEYkRSyTv

Your summary of this issue is horrendous. It should read: "...Trump FALSELY accuses...." To leave it as written MISSES THE WHOLE ISSUE.
