Just a feel good Saturday morning story to share.

Are you kidding? She was very distressed and growling as she should have been and barking while her owner yelled at her for trying to protect her pups. I watched the live streams yesterday and it was AWFUL!
-
Certainly not the most ideal quiet location for the dog, but a story nevertheless. It’s similar to a woman having an interesting birth in more unusual circumstances than the hospital. Could the owner have handled it better? Yes.
-
Yes a story but unfortunately it’s a story of everything you don’t do with a pregnant dog. If it’s truly a service dog it should not even be pregnant. That’s not how it’s done. Service dogs are spayed and neutered so they aren’t out of commission.
-
As a fellow animal lover and animal shelter owner I couldn’t agree more. But we have to recognize not all take the same approach as a responsible owner would.
-
As a animal lover I felt compelled to speak up because she couldn’t.

Million dollar question here is why did the owner of this beautiful dog try to fly it somewhere knowing it was about to give birth?
-
Exactly. If SHE was 9+ months pregnant I don't think she'd be up to a wait in an airport terminal & a plane ride. And was she actually going to put this very pregnant dog in the cargo hold - or? What's wrong with people?! Hopefully, the pups will get responsible,
ing owners. -
Dogs normally give birth 58-68 days after conceiving. 9+ months???????
-
I think it was a comparison to a pregnant human mother traveling at their due date. Sadly though this dog didn’t have the choice of where to go. I find this very irresponsible animal stewardship.
-
Super pregnant women aren't even supposed to go on planes because the altitude change can induce labor. One, a "service dog" shouldn't be pregnant, two, a very pregnant dog shouldn't go on a plane. End of. But that being said, I'm very glad mom and pups are okay! Happy ending!

Doubt this is a service dog. The “handler” is almost certainly just the “owner” and lying to people. It happens all the time here in Oregon.
-
This breed is a popular choice for trained service dogs, especially for veterans.
-
Very true. But responsible, serious handlers of trained, accredited service dogs would never let them work while heavily pregnant. That dog giving birth on an airport carpet was a dog-pony show the woman looked like she was enjoying.
-
There is a severe shortage of trained service dogs and seeing eye dogs, so I hope that these puppies are part of the program.
-
This is not service dog. Certified service dogs r neutered to allow them to focus on their work. It is not lack of pups that creates the shortage, but lack of funds to programs to train these angels. Crazy expensive for their specialized skills!

Why was a service dog not spayed? The birth puts her out of commission for service until the puppies are weaned, which hardly seems very functional for someone who needs a service dog.
-
Not a real service dog. Too many ppl passing their pets off as “service” so they can do whatever they want.
