In 2021, Allen police were called to a home Jame Burns shared with her son and 3 granddaughters (Jennifer, Jessica, and their sister) over a “possible disturbance”. An officer noted Jame tried to take off with the girls. Police stopped them and found meth near the kids.

#NEW: Court records show, Jame Burns, the suspect in an active Amber Alert was scheduled to be in court this morning. A Grand Jury indicted her last July on charges that she exposed 3 granddaughters to meth.

We are thrilled to report we located clouded leopard Nova on-grounds at the Zoo this afternoon at approximated 4:40 p.m. She was located very near the original habitat, and teams were able to safely secure her just before 5:15 p.m.

Prosecutors and defense are negotiating a possible sentencing deal. We should hear shortly if they’ve reached one or if the sentencing portion of trial will begin after lunch.

According to a prosecutor, Shuffield faces up to 10 years in prison for the more serious charge of obstruction. Alternatively, he could walk away with probation.

The court is now preparing to begin the sentencing portion of the trial.

Shuffield was caught on video in 2019 punching a woman he was upset had blocked the exit to a Deep Ellum parking lot. The incident made national headlines after police initially only charged the woman for breaking his truck’s rear window following their argument.

Jurors found Shuffield NOT GUILTY of aggravated assault, opting to convict him for simple assault instead. They also found he did NOT use a deadly weapon in committing the crime of obstruction, a question they were required to answer.

“There are no Black jurors among the 14 chosen” reports Jason. He’s covering the trial of Aaron Dean, the former Fort Worth police officer charged with murdering Atatiana Jefferson.
