Reading about the effort to recall @chesaboudin because, despite falling crime rates, people *feel* less safe in San Francisco.
It makes me wonder how much of that fear is attributable to how media cover crime.
Would love to do a systematic study on this.https://www.sfexaminer.com/news/chesa-boudin-responds-to-critics-in-first-state-of-justice-address/ …

And if you want to opine on San Francisco, you might want to come visit. You might learn that many many man crimes go unreported because everyone in the city knows they will lead to no consequence.

Meanwhile, let’s talk about doctoring data. Listen to my interviews and listen to how I talk about how I ‘prosecute’ 80% of drug cases. Or how I ‘take action’ in 70% of serious felonies.

I think using any of this data is problematic. Looking through it my 1st thought is there is a change in enforcement focus. The increase in auto theft across the board is weird as is the drop in theft from auto. This data may be useful internally but not outside.

That's great. You might want to let Chesa know this too because he is definitely "reporting" on crime data.
