The 5 biggest US banks all say they plan to reach "net zero carbon emissions" by 2050. They also poured $1,308,000,000,000 into funding oil and gas assets in the last 6 years. They show no sign of slowing down. Maybe someone in government should look into that contradiction?

There are two main takeaways: 1. Banks should incorporate climate-related risk into their capital adequacy decisions. 2. Where climate risks are hard to estimate, banks should add a margin of conservatism, the hallmark of a precautionary approach.

Housing policy is climate policy. 's video does a great job of telling that story. In 2023 California must pass policies that address both housing and climate at the same time.
