So you use slave labour to put out fires that the industrial complex you serve caused through environmental destruction, and you don't even bother to pay them or get them actual jobs when they're released.
-
-
-
Now now Vex, some of those inmates DO get paid. Like... 12 cents an hour...

-
They also become firefighters when released.
-
I hope this is true.
-
I can’t say that 100% do but it is job training while they are incarcerated & a very high percentage of them do. I think if I were in prison & had the option to help out & get job training I would do it. I’d feel like it’s sort of redemption, but that is just my personal feeling
-
Yeah, doesn't work that way because their incarceration keeps them from being employed as such because the job requires a background check. But great to get a skill they can't use and face deadly danger in the process...
-
Exactly! The youth offenders might get a shot if their records are sealed and expunged, but there's no guarantee of that.

They sign up for it, no one makes them do it.
-
There is a sense of responsibility that good people possess. Surely you understand that sense of humanity, do you think because one is an inmate they don’t have such feelings? They do volunteer & put their lives on the line to help others &the environment.
-
Yes and ppl have to look out for inmates willingness to put their lives on the line for others by fighting fires because exploiting their willingness to do good just so more money can be made by privatized prison owners is corruption— that’s all it is

-
Also many many volunteer fire fighters working with them were never in jail they are also volunteers! The ones in prison sign up for the work and are proud to help out. They don’t see themselves as slaves.
-
Volunteer firefighters are properly trained and go home when these disasters are over and the incarcerated volunteer firefighters return to their cells. That makes a difference in ones outlook.

Why are you letting children fight these fires?
-

Big ups to the child slaves making sure rich peoples houses don’t go up in flames
-
They’re between 18 & 24 - not children. And they’re inmates incarcerated in prison.
-
“Inmates” are humans and age 18 makes one old enough to vote but not old enough to drink alcohol. I hope you never need their assistance.
-
Nobody said they weren’t human, don’t be ridiculous. Maybe their “assistance” got them in jail in the first place. Read the thread. Has it not crossed your mind that it may be a positive experience for a young guy. Fire fighting is heroes’ work
-
Your last reply read otherwise, I agree those young incarcerated people relish the positive experience of Firefighters, an opportunity ordinarily closed to many.
