"In some quarters there’s a feeling that we close ranks or cover up or protect our own when things go wrong. We have to correct this narrative and challenge any behaviours that perpetuate it." Finally, a sentiment I can agree with. In amongst it all...http://blogs.bmj.com/bmj/2018/02/20/david-oliver-a-matter-of-trust-doctors-the-nhs-patients-and-the-public/ …

Typical
@mancunianmedic one-sided narrative. Families, particularly bereft families, want answers not to find fault or complain. Blooming offensive. -
Quite. "I am all for the move towards more and better partnerships between the public and professionals" Says the man who seems to mute/block those with whom that partnership most needs to be built.

I think it's probably as much about daring to hold a contradictory view.. but I get your point anyway.

I dunno, I think it's more than that. He's had a pop at me about academia (deleted), being Mildred (deleted) and more (deleted). Summat gets his goat.

I didn't have to look for very far. No one, absolutely no one, wanted to explain or reassure, believe me my family would have welcomed open and transparent. Weary of families being labelled. Really, why does that much lack of empathy, insight continue? So upsetting.

How to trust someone who, when faced with evidence tested in three separate courts of law, refuses to accept it and insults those do? Trust isn't a one-time, lifelong award given of right as part of your MBChB. It's something you have to re-earn every day.
-
Very true. It seems obvious to me that among those who have had cause to become knowledgeable, that trust level is at an all time low.
