>> "Where was this perplexion when Bawa-Garba was convicted? There was no comment at the time from our health secretary, nor any fundraising for her appeal. When did it become acceptable to be convicted of manslaughter relative to being struck off the medical register?"

We should not give the utmost respect to the legal system in this country. "Justice" is quite different from the legal system. Accused people become outsiders and are very often denied justice by an establishment which closes ranks.
-
Our justice system has given me plenty of reason to raise an eyebrow & actual justice has remained elusive. But I'd still rather have it there than not, because not all accused are made outsiders. Many are instead part of the closing ranks which only the courts seem to scrutinise

Were the managers who allowed a doctor to work in a perfect storm of dangerous conditions, had up for manslaughter? If not, why not? BTW, I'm an ex-nurse and a bereaved parent who just wants better patient safety.
-
First things first - I'm so sorry to hear of your loss. I hope you're ok and I share your passion for better patient safety. I think both the trust and the consultant still have plenty to answer for, though not clear if that would change BG's verdict.https://twitter.com/C7RKY/status/956892985190383616 …

quite telling that the author felt they had to remain anonymous. Shame the debate can't be more open and less polarised.
-
Very telling, I agree. Totally understandable that they chose to do it anonymously, given the almost guaranteed backlash from fellow clinicians. There are some already using the anonymity to cast doubt over the status of the author though. Can't win...

If “anonymous” can’t put their name to that it means nothing. Lots of ppl publicly supporting the Adcocks and aren’t being lynched.
-
I know what you mean, but I think right now I'm just glad someone has managed to get the alternate viewpoint out into the public domain tbh. Anonymously or otherwise. Medical careers have come spectacularly off the rails for doing much less, so I understand the author's caution.
