Of course views all mine. All without prejudice. Just a regular chap after all. Oh...and RT's may equally imply ridicule as endorsement.

Well... that was a VERY interesting watch. Thank you @ZedTrafficker. Paints NHS complainants as dangerous, deranged, knife-wielding psychopaths and unless you watch the last 10mins, you'd miss the surgeon finally admitting his mistake. Disturbing message in the current climate.https://twitter.com/zedtrafficker/status/963136233252810754 …

Quote from the ITV drama, 'Trauma': "I lied because it was best for you and your family. Surgeons lie all the time... we lie to avoid unnecessary suffering. We make that judgement. It's our job. And that is what I did."

Quote from the ITV drama, 'Trauma': "I work every day saving people's lives. Long hours. But when your son is stabbed, instead of chasing the person who did it you chase ME, who happened to make a mistake?" "I'd have understood the mistake. But not the lie." There. Right there

Also in Trauma the surgeon fails to tell the truth at the hospital safeguarding meeting meaning that no learning can take place from the mistake.

That's a v good point, Della. That part hadn't occurred to me. I almost feel the need to go back and watch it again now, to see what else sticks out with hindsight. But I shan't - it wasn't that good! :)

Didn't watch Trauma - but it was A DRAMA. Do some doctors lie after they have made mistakes? Almost certainly - ALL GROUPS contain some people who will lie to protect themselves.

That's true. What stood out for me was the way in which the bereaved father was portrayed as deranged, unhinged by the grief and incapable of reason.. until the very end. Not entirely helpful. Far too many people are influenced by what they watch on TV for my liking.

John - do you think 'I was neutral' there? I sometimes get 'you are against the clinicians' or 'you aren't supporting patients' - but while I definitely support patients first, and defend family carers second, I think that I'm trying to be balanced?

Actually, yes, I do. In fact I smiled to myself when I read you referring to both sides as 'they'. Somewhat emphasises the balance.

I would have understood a mistake. I cannot find it withinme to forgive the utterly disgusting lies. They couldnt even tell Coroner the truth in PFD report.

I think that goes to the heart of what most of us have to say Barbara. It's not the mistake, it's the lies. That's the reason we don't stop.
