I do know a complaint is time limited to activate...but the key phrase is “when you had knowledge” ..ie when one had information that made one consider a complaint..now that could theoretically be years after the “event”

Not too bad. None of them tell you to get your medical records first, before complaining though. Always a winner for me, that one. :)

I agree ..normally that means in the background the NHS body activates their solicitor ... This is quite comprehensive but I have had to repeatedly tell complainants to get GP Medical records as well which means another medical records application.https://www.nhs.uk/chq/pages/1309.aspx?categoryid=68 …

Yes, though I think making the complaint activates that too, if it's serious enough. But that way you're giving them every chance to weed/seed before you get a copy of the records.

ZHH The CuretheNHS network told us DH etc reckoned most compainants wud give up after 6 yrs, so that's wot they'd aim for!
-
That's right! I knew I remembered it from somewhere and that they made it sound more like a target than an observation.
-
I have told complainants a max of 12months otherwise complain to Health Service Ombudsman about undue delay and maladministration in handling a complaint..that’s over and above main complaint..
-
Further if it’s a provider of service I advise that complainants complain to commissioner also in as much the Commissioner failed in their duty too Commission a safe efficient high quality service..Commissioners do have a performance/quality amanagement role.

I have given up. Lies, denial, mis-diagnosis, feigned ignorance, all designed to ensure patient is beyond the time limits for complaints and litigation. Brain damaged, cognition impaired, just too difficult.
-
It is the hardest of paths to walk, when we're least equipped to be walking it. Sorry Fiona. But never give up - stranger things have happened! :)

I am campaigning, John, I have no faith in our NHS now. It puts too much effort into concealing the harm it causes rather than addressing it.
