And patients can only do what they know, or are told. I find this what-to-do-about- medicine-prescribed-by-other-doctors-you're-asked-to-bring-Into-hospital situation one of the worrying issues I have come across in a long time.

It's weird. I've never in adult medicine seen a patient taking their own medicine while an inpatient Bring it in, get it checked off, then send it home or keep it locked away - yes common. But actually take it yourself when inpatient rather than be given by a nurse - nope
