Sounds like the bigger picture needs to be looked at again and all those involved to have a fair chance of representation. Family must be heartbroken. No one wants to see scapegoating.

A child died, from a possibly treatable illness. Nothing, absolutely nothing, can be as bad as that. But to then scapegoat one person and not learn the real lessons that needed to be learned is unforgivable. It compounds the initial failure, with another one nearly as bad.

So many families have said they want lessons to be learned. Its really important we learn and rectify. I agree with you.

I learnt most from my patients. My mistakes taught me some very hard lessons. Those I was most embarrassed about were the ones my patients forgave me for and from which I learnt most. Those I got sued for were minor and I learnt nothing, except it's annoying to be sued.

Sometimes, if you make a mistake, patients can see how much you are hurt by it and they are then very forgiving.

I'd have loved for us to have been given that choice. We'd have forgiven. No question - we're all human. There would've been no complaint, no lawyers, no police and treatment to correct life-threatening error would've been prompt. Alas, it was covered up.

Cover ups will now start immediately. If harm or death occurred I or a Colleague may end up in Court, so why not turn a blind eye or anonymise everything so much that no learning for systems improvement can happen?

Did you seriously just write that? You have 10,000 followers who listen to what you have to say. Their actions may be guided by your words. I expect more of you Gordon. Stop it. That doesn't help

Yes I wrote that It is the logical implication of the

Well then allow me to retort, if you're going to be so unremorseful. Cover ups will not start immediately, as they have been going on for generations. The duty of candour is a crock anyway and your threats are hollow, as they are merely a threat to continue what is already done.

Those of us who have always insisted on candour, truth and open discussion are now having second thoughts, and wondering why bother any more if we will be made scapegoats and nothing will change in the broken system. Liars always stay liars, they won't change.
