Either way
#bawagarba got blamed for that despite the fact she didn’t correctly didn’t prescribe it. Patientswant autonomy - it comes with responsibility to work with healthcare professional for common goal. Everyone involved should take responsibility, including the parents.1 reply 0 retweets 10 likes -

A medication the parents gave that wasn’t prescribed?......a nurse cannot agree for a non-prescribed medication to be given.....

Apparently at the time, on that unit, this was accepted practice for patient’s regular medications.

I never knew not to give heart meds to a patient in hospital (the ones the GP had said were important to remember) so I did. Til a chance convo with the nurse... I felt quite sick and very lucky.

Why are we asked to take them in if not to ‘take’ them? I ask now. But I wouldn’t have before.

Need to take them in because a) hospitals don’t always have access to your GP record (even via NHS SCR on Spine) and therefore may not know what you are meant to be taking and b) out of hours, Hospital may not have easy access to less common medications.

This prescribed medication issue in secondary care is clearly summat that needs way better communication in future.
