Thank you Sarah, very kind of you. Despite it being a length article, I'm still left wishing I had a transcript of the trial to read. That tells me how they feel, but I'm still left feeling I need to know more about why they feel that way. Devil's in the detail...
I hesitate to speak for anyone else, let alone under such ghastly circumstances, but as the parents of a child who died, tragic Jack, I think it is totally understandable that they would want the doctor directly responsible to be unable to care for other patients.
2/2 This human & totally understandable wish is perhaps different to the most sensible response by @gmc after #BawaGarba had already been sentenced in court & dealt with by tribunal which considered very complex challenges, institutional failings & pressures outside her control
1/2 I think it depends hugely upon how matters are handled, as to how relatives feel about the clinicians involved in a patient's death. Have you ever seen this TedX talk? I'd highly recommend it if you have the time. We have a long way to go.https://youtu.be/qmaY9DEzBzI
2/2 But on the subject of system issues & staffing levels, yes, I think those should be considered as part of a doctor's defence. I feel like this has been avoided somehow and I'm no happier about it than clinicians are. Blame may (also?) lay elsewhere. Should be considered, imho

This case is unusual in so many ways. Unlike 99% of people I know, they seem to have had the immediate and unwavering support of police, NMC, GMC... everybody except the trust. Not at all the norm from any angle, this one!
That’s a very interesting fact. I think it may have come out of the inquest.. but only if my memory serves me well!
Aah, that might explain the universal acceptance. Thank you.
Leicester Mercury have been covering.
Thank you. :)
Would be interested in hearing your take from a family/patient perspective
Ben, John has been a top class campaigner and recommend him 100%
