Of course views all mine. All without prejudice. Just a regular chap after all. Oh...and RT's may equally imply ridicule as endorsement.

I seriously kid you not how the heck is a person supposed to compete with such medical craziness when they don't have access to their notes and legally a Dr can restrict which parts I'm allowed

I asked for my late mums medical notes from a Mental Health Hospital and they told me all papers relating to third parties had been removed. I took that to mean all notes regarding the Drs name & comments during meetings were removed so maybe doctors are called third parties now!pic.twitter.com/G5xW2mAzqu

Anyone labeled with a MH problem suddenly has less legal rights and can never legally recover Of someone has written something that a Dr feels would upset the MH pt it can be removed from subject access request data This is illegal if person has no MH diagnostic opinion on file

It’s not just for MH patients, any doctor can restrict info for any patient under the medical records act.

One reason they can do that legally is that you do not own the information about you in your NHS records. The NHS does.

I was threatened with the police for ‘stealing’ my own medical records once. Indeed, the concept of ‘your records’ is a a fallacy.

barring exceptional circumstances, medical records are the patient's records, not the doctor's and we are hopefully moving closer to people owning/accessing own records as a matter of course

Currently the secretary of state owns medical records. @AvMAuk and @PatientParticip are campaigning to have legal ownership of records transferred to the patient.

Am I right i thinking Olivia that the SOS only owns the physical records, but not the data that they contain? That already belongs to the patient, no?

How does that work John? Struggling to see how separating two causes anything tangible to change. Maybe I'm just being dense.

It's more about explaining the current situation than changing it tbh. It's the reason why we can be told they're 'our records', yet someone like @MadeInBedlam gets threatened with police if we try to take them home.

I was still in my ‘home’. I lived in ‘supported accommodation’ (Christ what an Orwellian term). I removed them from an unlocked drawer in the living room (anyone could have nicked them), and put them in my room. FFS I tried to make my notes secure.

I confess I'm less familiar with the dynamics in that environment. But it shouldn't affect your basic rights. @medconsent knows a lot more about this subject than I though. Wonder if she has any thoughts?

Just a mo you were threatened with arrest when you took your confidential records from a communal (public) area and placed them in a move secure location which the staff could still access? That's ridiculous Regardless of ownership the confidentiality angle is worrying
