@drjonesaa was banned from his mothers Care Home for saying he was recording a meeting though, people are allegedly getting thrown out of Care Homes and Hospitals for doing this #justsaying but i 100% agree with you.

My local hosp put up signs to say they’d prosecute anyone recording after a secret recording exposed poor care.

Prosecute them with what, I wonder? The key to our right to record seems to be based on the fact that it's our data under discussion during consultations. And nobody can prevent us from recording our own data. Outside of that confine, I'm less sure on the situation though.

I do not understand why at the end of every consultation a copy of it doesn’t go into the notes & a copy to patient. Protects everybody.

I sense a growing support for that idea on both sides. Currently, medical records are at the heart of what is deemed to be the truth. But when one side only holds them, that 'truth' has a horribly frequent habit of changing. I already record every one, so I'm in!

Many communication issues would be resolved, IMO, if people had the opportunity to play what was said, rather than rely on the recollection of what they felt.

100% with you. I started recording for accuracy of records tbh, but I quickly realised how valuable it was to be able to listen back to consultations after the event. It's a lot less work than taking extensive contemporaneous notes & harder to dispute. Protects all parties.

I truly do not understand the defensiveness. It's a straight record. Objecting raises a whole raft of questions that are more damaging than the actual recording!

however, nurses, paramedics, doctors, teachers, cops, social workers, health care assistants even firecrew cop plenty of threatening, verbally abusive, physically intimidating behaviour then public should be happy for that to be filmed covertly too or overtly with open warnings

we virtually all have smart phones! If two ppl record the same meeting the recordings should be identical! Job done.

I think there are downsides. A patients private recording will the vast majority of the time never see the light of day & will be used solely for personal recollection. The same recording held on state record is a vast amount of unnecessarily processed & stored personal data.

That's a very good point actually. For my sins, I followed the http://Care.data  debate quite closely. It's made me very mindful of what information I share now, because of who gets access. But that said, I'd rather compromise on that, than the accuracy of consultations.

Yeah I followed http://care.data  too. It's worth remembering that these recordings include private personal data of the patient. Anything recorded on the doctor is simply their conduct in course of their business practice. They arent sharing details of their STDs.
