ICO funding: Lord Ashton of Hyde announced in Parliament today that ICO has been granted pay flexibility (independence from certain civil service pay restrictions) up to 2020/2021 to help recruit and retain expert staff.

The fact that the ICO is losing staff at a critical time when U.K. needs to show it has a strong regulator under GDPR. Without that, the European Commission would be more likely not to approve free data flows post-Brexit.

Because all their best staff are getting poached by companies who can pay much better!
