Of course views all mine. All without prejudice. Just a regular chap after all. Oh...and RT's may equally imply ridicule as endorsement.

It can be really interesting when involved in longer threads on a given topic. You can literally watch people's confirmation bias in action, as they work their way down the thread, picking out the tweets that make them feel good about their own viewpoint for RTs/Favs. No debate.

Yes but it can be very unnerving thinking you're just putting an opposing viewpoint only to find you're being pelted with rotten tomatoes and in the middle of a hail of hate - that tends to make me retweet tweets of people I mostly agree with such as yourself.

I think that's quite a sad reflection on our society, actually. Sorry you're made to feel that way Maggie. If ever you want to whisper a viewpoint to me on DM, I'll happily raise it. They can pelt me all day long. And generally do. :)

Thanks John, will do - but another reason for my timidity http://data.parliament.uk/writtenevidence/committeeevidence.svc/evidencedocument/public-administration-and-constitutional-affairs-committee/parliamentary-and-health-service-ombudsman-scrutiny-201617/written/74286.pdf …

I was intending to stay off twitter this morning, but then just as I was falling asleep last night, I found this. Even tho my eyes were closing, I couldn't stop reading until I'd finished. Brilliant document Maggie. As compelling to read, as it is damning of the PHSO. Great job!!

Thanks for encouragement, John. Next, The Ombudsman - the book. Then the Musical. LOL. (No, I really am writing the book.) @pacac @RobBehrens1884

Never rule out the musical.. let's see how the book goes first! 😉 If that document is anything to go by, I'm sure it'll be a real page-turner. And I think you were hoping to copy in @CommonsPACAC to your previous tweet. So that's that done. :)

Transcript recent PACAC PHSO scrutiny. When u hve time, plse look at ref to our case Q 64-70 http://data.parliament.uk/writtenevidence/committeeevidence.svc/evidencedocument/public-administration-and-constitutional-affairs-committee/parliamentary-and-health-service-ombudsman-scrutiny-201617/oral/75668.pdf …

Approaching 3 years since PHSO declared their own report to be flawed, attending PACAC with full knowledge that your evidence would be part of the discussion & they could barely tell the committee how reports are quashed, let alone actually doing it? What is this utter nonsense?

And yet we learn by sharing different points of view. Debate is really important if anyone is going to learn anything.

I entirely agree. I look out for opinions that clash with mine to debate people. If we can't both be right, then one of us will be teaching and one of us learning. I don't mind either role, but only debate can determine which is which.

Agree,So many opinions out there! I try to make informed decisions but it helps if the data is correct! Sometimes both/all points of view can be valid, at times we need to agree to disagree.

        1. Listen to everybody (no matter who they are). 2. Believe nobody (no matter who they are). 3. Locate as much original source data as possible. 4. Make up your own mind from all of the above. That's all I've got these days, now trust is in short supply.

You have to stay glued to keep up with some threads. And some replies don’t come up on notifications. But I have seen that kind of cherry picking too.

Yes, I noticed that recently too. Found tweets I'm mentioned in that didn't appear in notifications. But the cherry picking is definitely a thing that can be observed on occasion.

Absolutely. I don't think it helps that I have tech issues which slow me down either. Things can get ahead of me in a hurry when a busy thread comes along. I must have missed a lot of late. Walking away is becoming my new favourite response. :)

Also lack of time is a factor. Squeezing in Twitter between other stuff means the conflicting viewpoints may be read but not replied to.

That's a fair observation. May mitigate some of what I see. Not all though, I'd suggest. Many debates have good points made on both sides, yet one can notice those who are blind to all but their preferred message. Some seemingly with plenty of time to do so too.
