Truth is so obscure in these times, and falsehood so established, that, unless we love the truth, we cannot know it.

Important is to know the whole truth and nothing but the truth. In a

I'm afraid the truth is that those that lead English healthcare want to preserve their ability to silence whistleblowers and the majority of the public/professions don't see the issue as important enough to take significant action on. A sad truth for campaigners like us.

Just had a crystalising moment; If the majority of people either don't want or don't care whether or not junior doctors have statutory whistleblowing protection who am I to preach at them. We have offered to try and get the job done.https://www.crowdjustice.com/case/junior-doctors-round-3/ …

Public often don’t understand what has happened in whistleblowing cases, don’t realise how vital openness is to safe care, nor quite how badly whistleblowers are treated

Even members of the public burnt by NHS cover ups don't seem to want to focus on the system causes.
@JamesTitcombe and@MartinBromiley are notable exceptions but even they don't seem to get the significance of statutory whistleblowing protection being undermined for NHS staff.6 replies 4 retweets 5 likes -

What makes you say that about those 'burnt' members of public, Chris? Every long term member of this unfortunate group I know of, has spent considerable time trying to address some aspect of the system that failed them.

I hear about patients and relatives suffering as a result of NHS people not being open about failures. We have shown & remedied doctors below consultant and agency workers being argued out of whistleblowing protection weeks after Francis. Safety campaigns don't seem to make link

I can only speak for myself, but I'd bet nearly half of the total clinicians I follow are whistleblowers. The crucial significance of those brave souls certainly hasn't escaped me. Or many others, I'm sure. What makes it into campaigns however, is a whole other conversation.
