So insulting one liners from both sides of the discussion are not helpful.

Come on Mike, the insults have been pretty one way throughout. You must know that.

I’ve been observing this and other related threads. My view here is that there’s a see-sawing of ‘insults’. These will continue until all legal proceedings have concluded and th evidence laid bare. The tension here is that it is possible...1/2

These holes in the system were identified by the Midstaffs PI, they’re not new. If the systemic issues surrounding Jack Adcock’s death were addressed with such ferocity by as many doctors when he died, would we be having this debate now?

The system is far from addressed all that has happened is there is increase culpability on the part of the HCPs as seen in bawagarba case. Copy+Paste - chronic underfunding, undervalued staff, increased pressure, etc

My hope is that, now so many doctors have found their voice (whatever the motivation) keep using it. Cos I’m petrified at the thought of avoidable death being inevitable due to *all the reasons quoted. There but for the grace of god.. it could have been you.will it be me?

Well put yourself in a doctors shoes. If I have a family/children/responsibilities then either I speak up & get shafted or don’t speak up but get found out and shafted. I advocate meticulous safe practice as well as candour but consider the implications for Mr&my family

If nobody ever speaks out how will things change? You’ll always be doing your job treading on eggshells. Avoidable harm&death will continue and people like me will be eternally scared to use your services because avoidable death is inevitable in the current system.

You can add me to that list. And anyone else who has ever had cause to look more deeply at what passes for candour in the NHS. We are at a tipping point. We must all make sure this tips the right way.
