The Charlie Gard effect. They don't like their decisions being publicly scrutinised. Only takes the idiotic actions of a few to offer them the excuse to shut up shop & avoid a repeat exposure.

You know what grinds my gears? Is the abusers shouting out 'troll' when faced with a legitimate question. The agenda has been set when decent people speaking up being classed as trolls and they get to drive off into the sun set in thier mercedes

Yeah, I get that. It's especially cruel when the trauma of whatever's happened to them makes the person understandably emotional, only for that emotion to then be used as a weapon against them.
