Of course views all mine. All without prejudice. Just a regular chap after all. Oh...and RT's may equally imply ridicule as endorsement.

You'd better understand the significance of what that will unlock than I, Alison. What should we look out for, would you say?

well, my initial thoughts were what about any settlement which has to be lodged with the court and could be matter of legit public interest (but arguments not made in open court)

Interesting. Have there been any recent examples where this change would've made a difference?

hard to say. Many NHS/private company settlements are "confidential" which leaves journos unable to scrutinise them. Would a judge accept they ought to be open to scrutiny?

That's a very good question. I look forward to somebody testing it out. So this isn't a case of journos observing court cases but being prohibited from reporting them? They're closed sessions?

it's more cases which are started in the courts but a settlement is then reached out of court so there is no court proceedings or judgement to report eg Virgin/Surrey CCGs.

Don't suppose you have any thoughts on this, do you @LaurenceVick? Could landmark cases be getting sidelined as a bi-product of no win/no fee marketplace? Or is it just me? https://twitter.com/c7rky/status/936918122438651909 …
