Of course views all mine. All without prejudice. Just a regular chap after all. Oh...and RT's may equally imply ridicule as endorsement.

This tweet/thread got a very disappointing amount of attention, considering the importance of the subject. Any I nterest in healthcare? Please... take a look. #InformedConsenthttps://twitter.com/c7rky/status/938175044177596421 …

One of the most important commentary pieces I've ever read on informed consent law. Equally so re judicial deference to doctors: "This approach is in line with Bolam rather than Montgomery & reflects her failure to take on board that the landscape of informed consent has shifted" https://twitter.com/louise_austin12/status/935090031340982272 …

Whole consent issue up in the air over a number of recent rulings some of them frankly odd - Cheshire West ruling has really spooked psychiatrists or anyone trying to detain patients for any reason, even for their own safety Madness has ensued in my neck of the woods

I had to take a prolonged break from twitter and missed out on a lot. That ruling being just one example, it seems. Thank you for the heads up. Reading now... What madness has it provoked?

Patient admitted to place of safety after suicide attempt. Still at risk. When arranging transfer to psych unit (voluntary admission) I was told ambulance could not be locked as that would be a breach of human rights. Was pressured to section to allow 'locked transfer'. Refused.

What would normal procedure have been prior to recent rulings?

Patient transferred in an ambulance with no-one giving a thought to whether doors were just closed or locked. Now if I dare say lock them as a precaution given patients suicide risk I break the law. Wasted hours arguing point with daft psych manager who called lawyer!

Nobody likes a lawyer. For the costs incurred, you could probably have hired another member of staff to stand guard by the bloody ambulance door! What a mess.
