But no one can expect families to sit back until these issues are resolved and I am sure we will see many more manslaughter cases in the not to distant future.

I truly hope not Allyn. Only the lawyers will benefit. We have to build trust between HCPs & patients. Legal confrontation destroys trust.

It may we’ll destroy trust but families have no trust left and legal action is the only route. Like I have previously said, keep kicking me and I am going to kick you back and as children would say, you started it so you deserve what you get. I mean we are dealing with children

It seems like a vicious circle. Reduce litigation by being more open and honest with families, put money back in to healthcare. It seems they are going the other way. Lie to families and expect litigation, reduce money going in to healthcare & complain about lack of money.

Great observation. Are we seeing chickens coming home to roost? >Many doctors have lied repeatedly (because they can, without consequence) to protect their reputation/GMC status/negligence claim history/trust performance >Cumulative cover ups create false impression of safety 1/2

>The false impression of safety perpetuates errors and disguises the need for intervention & investment >Funding gets frozen, or even cut by this perversion of the data >Safety conditions in reality deteriorate, worsening outcomes & claims ...and it all started with a lie. 2/2

Litigation takes years so can't be linked to duty of candour.

US already know increased honesty reduces litigation.

Indeed. Still a bit patchy though, I suspect. But there is some hope emerging there, I agree. I always thought this was one of the most powerful demonstrations of the benefits of transparency and candour . >https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qmaY9DEzBzI …
