In many of the ones which have been de-railed (and there are 3 in this thread alone), definitely corruption, yes. Still a bit confused as to why they suddenly pushed ahead in this one headline case now though. What's so different about that case??

Oh, no. This cant be just a timing thing, surely? GMC picking on the nearest convenient target to make a point, before somebody makes one to them? I feel slightly queasy even considering the thought...

Minority doctors (and international grads in particular) seem most at risk. Which is interesting.

The GMC says they quite certain this has nothing at all to do with them.http://www.pulsetoday.co.uk/your-practice/regulation/gmc-not-to-blame-for-greater-likelihood-of-sanctions-among-uk-ethnic-minority-gps-says-report/20009451.article …

They say Trusts disproportionately refer BME or IMG doctors, usually citing ‘malpractice’ rather than ‘performance’ or ‘health’. https://www.gmc-uk.org/BME_Doctors_Forum_14_January_2015___redacted_note_of_the_meeting.pdf_62607423.pdf …

GMC agreed in 1997 my complaint will await libel case & reiterated no time limit! GMC in 2001 agreed to await outcome of police investigation! GMC in 2002 covertly inroduced 5yr time limit! 2003 I made complaint to GMC! 2008 GMC engaged 5yr time limit & rejected my complaint! :(

You know you've got a case they're scared about the implications of when GMC sneakily create a 5yr time limit, specifically to try and get rid of you Will. But we knew that...

It's scandalous John. GMC then lied to judge claiming they couldn't investigate a doctor without a complaint when they had investigated hundreds on newspaper articles alone. GMC's regulators (CHRE & PSA) then condoned GMC's dishonesty. The whole system is corrupt to the core! :(

It's such acts which demonstrate why people go to court instead of relying on GMC. Professional guidelines have been rendered impotent by lawyers who have recognised and exploited the fact that they're not legally enforceable.
