A related issue: what happens if a judge assumes they understand the facts and rules incorrectly, when they ought to have been informed by expert evidence?

A good question. Esp when this may increasingly become the default position: https://twitter.com/c7rky/status/933169735130267650 … These guides will likely influence & mean only gov approved expert opinions will be heard, imho. Dr. Waney Squier alone gave us enough reason to raise an eyebrow there.
