>>By allowing our medical data to be stolen by this gov, we are exposing ourselves not just to their abuse of it, but every future gov's too
-
-
-
>>What future gov might we get? Imagine if a Hitler-type ever got into power.. you happy to give THEM access to a national medical database?
-
>>Once this database is built, it'll never be unbuilt. And right now, I'm not sure we're even being given a choice?pic.twitter.com/rCIRO3reBF
-
>> HSCIC, who are the architects & gatekeepers of this database, will say this graphic is no longer valid. But I'm not yet convinced of that
-
>>And the abuse of our medical info at the hands of HSCIC continues. Just read this & the above thread. Scary, imho:http://www.express.co.uk/news/uk/637423/Doctors-outrage-Government-snoops-sick-notes-checks …
-
>>It may be possible to get round this with a private GP appt, if anyone is worried & has the means. Private GPs don't share info with HSCIC

@C7RKY@rogerkline Ever heard about the NHS having no idea what is happening inside its hospitals and performing badly as a result? -
@sib313@rogerkline You already have the data for hospitals - HES. You know, the one HSCIC sold 13yrs of to an actuarial society. That one. -
.
@C7RKY@rogerkline HES not identifiable and actual releases mostly aggregate or sample data. No harm identified, ever. -
@sib313@rogerkline No harm identified by you, you mean? You're welcome to your opinion. I just don't happen to share it. -
.
@C7RKY@rogerkline The conclusion of the review of HES releases, not mine. Harm comes from local not national leaks of identifiable data. -
@sib313@rogerkline I'm afraid I believe you're wrong. I can already conceive of the damage my former industry (financial) can do with it. -
.
@C7RKY@rogerkline Luckily now they will never get it, rightly. HSCIC released data because that was policy. Policy now changed. -
@sib313@rogerkline They've been humiliated into changing because they've been caught out! Do I trust these people/gov with my med data? No. - 5 more replies

@C7RKY crikey what are they accessing? By most standards its an omishambles in data science terms. -
@alisonleary1 I think it's more about the notion that gov can access it, tbh Alison. If GP data gets uploaded too it'll grow massively tho. -
@C7RKY it's a shame because if it were better structured & safeguarded it could be used to do great stuff for public good -
@alisonleary1 Nobody doubts potential benefits. But it's impossible to ignore social implications of such a database. Esp in HSCIC's hands!
