.@C7RKY how’s it sinister to apply the scientific method to improve public services? NHS should be doing a hell of a lot more of this

@NHS_Analyst Because it's an abuse to influence people's behaviour without their knowledge or consent. Dangerous tool, in the wrong hands. -
@C7RKY read up on the projects they’ve been involved in, I really think there is nothing there anyone would find objectionable -
@NHS_Analyst First, that'd be your/my perspective; not all may agree. But I worry what it might also get used for in future once established -
@C7RKY that’s a “never invent/do anything” argument; I worry far more about the alternative where decisions are made w/o ref to evidence -
@NHS_Analyst No, it's an argument that tools which would be of value to a dictatorship, should not be introduced without rock-solid controls -
@C7RKY do you feel the same about use of the scientific method in general? Or the building of pubic infrastructure (roads/water/power) etc. -
@NHS_Analyst Not at all. I'm a huge fan of science & evidenced-based solutions. But just because you can, doesn't mean you should & all that - 10 more replies

@C7RKY Disgustingly the GPs/NHS staff here have deliberately lied to mislead me & then lashed out with insults&libel when I questioned them! -
@chillisalsa That's a sadly all-too-familiar tale that I wish I'd not heard so often. When we're at our most vulnerable too, usually. :(
-
@C7RKY Thank you - I'm still battling them tho'. What awful people to take advantage, cause harm then lie&libel to cover their tracks! -
@chillisalsa Good for you. Keep going - they hate that! ;-) There are no depths too low for some, judging by some of the stories I've heard

@C7RKY I'm rubbish at NHS speak, but if you can't take the lingo it's hard to be heard. -
@C7RKY in my experience ambiguity of NHS language is primary cause of mistrust. Majority of complaints are about poor communication.. -
@katemasters67 You're right, but this one isn't so much talking the lingo or poor comms. On the contrary, these are skilfully crafted comms. -
@C7RKY took me a while to work that out...very subtle, and makes a discussion into a download..without you even knowing! -
@katemasters67 Exactly. How to impose yourself on another person without them ever realising you even did it. Let's call it what it is.
