"Let’s stop consenting patients" http://www.bmj.com/content/348/bmj.g2192 … >Wish I could see this article. Suspect I'd have plenty to say if I could...
@Cleverestcookie That's good to hear, thanks Cathy. Looks like the courts are starting to agree with the author too >

@C7RKY then that's fine (and needs recording). If patient/carer makes a choice themselves then that's fine (and needs recording). -
@Cleverestcookie That's exactly how I see it too. Now all we have to do is get reality to catch up. :) -
@C7RKY stop clinicians being paternalistic. However, patients need to realise it's their decision and they take responsibility for it -
@Cleverestcookie V much so. I think this emphasises the futility of that choice to be responsible tho, if you don't have the neccesary info. -
@Cleverestcookie Not sure I understand that? If paternalism brings the greatest personal risk for HCPs, why do so many still engage in it? -
@C7RKY a lot of effort to change. IME people don't think things through logically -
@Cleverestcookie Ain't that the truth. And it doesn't just apply to medicine, but the power granted to clinicians makes it more concerning. -
@C7RKY other professional person or expert. 'Show me your worth' I say - 6 more replies
