I'm searching my timeline, but haven't yet found 1 person who's happy with #Francis report & has no link to gov/NHS. What does that tell us?
@Cleverestcookie I can only comment on my own experience, but PALS oft act as an early warning system for the trust. Knowledge was secondary

@C7RKY@Cleverestcookie PALS totallyFAILED me at meeting after my bungled op &passed on false info to 'independent'counsellor so she hurt me -
@sillyoldjen@Cleverestcookie I'm sorry to say I'm not surprised. 140 limitations don't permit me to express my full reservations about PALS -
@C7RKY@sillyoldjen it's a non-independent role often filled with people without the necessary skills and experience -
@Cleverestcookie@sillyoldjen I'm sure that's true. But they commonly only act as a means to gather info which helps prepare trust's defence -
@C7RKY@sillyoldjen well I'd only expect it to be a means of sourcing response from the trust to a query, not an independent investigation -
@Cleverestcookie@sillyoldjen Oh no, there's no pretence of independence about it. This is often the forerunner to inform 'weeding/seeding'.

@C7RKY under no trust influence to affect response to patient or advocate. -
@Cleverestcookie Well that's very good. It's reassuring to hear that some are doing the job right. Alas, far too many are still not. -
@C7RKY this was a while ago and in a PCT. Primary care seems more transparent than secondary care as delivered by number of separate orgs

@C7RKY@Cleverestcookie I found them to just try and deflect blame onto me and basically bounce my complaint. Pointless & insulting. -
@Harryshelper@C7RKY depends on individuals in post unfortunately and their expertise and experience -
@Cleverestcookie@C7RKY disheartening when point of complaint was that they should review their procedures as far from perfect. -
@Harryshelper@C7RKY procedures can always do with reviewing. Constantly doing so for my company to make sure they're fit for purpose -
@Cleverestcookie@C7RKY I'm not saying it's the same everywhere. Just some places are really bad. No doubt some really good. -
@Harryshelper@C7RKY I've said this before. Standards of NHS trusts hugely variable across range of parameters -
@Cleverestcookie@C7RKY agreed. And that's the shame, because some could learn easily from better trusts if they accepted not perfect. - 1 more reply
