Of course views all mine. All without prejudice. Just a regular chap after all. Oh...and RT's may equally imply ridicule as endorsement.

@katemasters67 there is no evidence CPR is a Lifesaving treatment in the last days of life. Evidence is that survival is 0% in this context

@doctorcaldwell and predicting EOL, how accurate is that in the context of workload you have blogged about?

@katemasters67 @doctorcaldwell Now that's the real issue for me - nobody wants futile treatment, but nobody wants to be 'written off' either

@katemasters67 @doctorcaldwell CPR's our final safety net. One that may be needed for many reasons. Hence why predicting EOL draws challenge

@doctorcaldwell @katemasters67 I don't dispute there are numerous cases for whom a DNACPR is right Gordon. It's how to convince pt vs avoid?

@C7RKY @katemasters67 if a near EoL pt really wants to be "for CPR" he would have to live rest of life in coronary care unit in case needed

@doctorcaldwell @katemasters67 Appreciate all that, but key here is assumption that someone is a 'near EOL pt'. I've seen enough personally>

@doctorcaldwell @katemasters67 >to know that doctors are human (like the rest of us) & make mistakes. Incl about such near EOL assumptions.

@C7RKY @katemasters67 but a DNACPR does NOT mean STOP all other tests&treatments If we were wrong about EoL patient improves+doesnt need CPR

@doctorcaldwell @C7RKY but your decision wouldn't change, or are there reversible reasons for deciding DNACPR?

@katemasters67 @C7RKY oh yes, eg septicaemic shock pt could be so ill temporarily CPR would not work, sometimes recover+reverse DNACPR
