@katemasters67 @doctorcaldwell @JohnLauner @DrGrumble @acorns47 @elinlowri @learnhospice How else can this be explained, so pt doesn't cry?!
@DrGrumble @doctorcaldwell Sure, but I was referring specifically to how docs are trained to deliver bad news to pts. The 'scripting' side.

@C7RKY@DrGrumble that is well covered + when I listen to my Juniors most are stunningly good communicators. Far better than I at same stage -
@doctorcaldwell@DrGrumble So have any of them got their heads together to work out the best ways to deliver this new CPR disclosure yet? -
@C7RKY@DrGrumble no hence all this torrent of Tweeting! -
@doctorcaldwell@DrGrumble Sounds to me like somebody, somewhere, ought to be calling a meeting. Pronto... :) -
@C7RKY@DrGrumble let's lock those 3 judges & the presidents of the royal colleges in a room with no breaks coffee or food&see what happens! -
@doctorcaldwell@C7RKY It was an unfortunate case because it would seem the patient didn't actually want to discuss the issue anyway. -

@DrGrumble@doctorcaldwell Tho opens up wider debate for me. What's 'not warranted' is matter of opinion. Can't seek 2nd opinion if not told -
@C7RKY@doctorcaldwell That was the key legal point. -
@DrGrumble@doctorcaldwell Indeed. I'm saying that may extend to all consultations, where treatment options are ruled out w/o consultation. -
@C7RKY@doctorcaldwell You don't usually offer treatments that aren't going to help. Is CPR different? -
@DrGrumble@C7RKY yes it is the only treatment we have to give unless there is a No order. All other treatments require informed consent
