Of course views all mine. All without prejudice. Just a regular chap after all. Oh...and RT's may equally imply ridicule as endorsement.

Great breakthrough securing duty of candour - straight from Lib Dem manifesto! See article on safety in NHS at: http://ldv.org.uk/38831

This is not the individual legal DoC that was called for @normanlamb. As you say: "Sometimes clinicians close ranks" Nothing here stops that

@C7RKY Qe are strengthening the individual duty of candour through professional regulation. Covering up must have consequences.

.@normanlamb Professional regulations have no standing in law. Ignored by lawyers. That's exactly why cover-ups are so prevalent currently.

@C7RKY @normanlamb Most individuals don't disclose because they are scared, not bad. Permissive culture to reporting safest, law irrelevant

@DrCJohn @normanlamb Self regulation has quite obv failed to show that. If to tell pts the truth is so feared, then to lie should be more so

@C7RKY @normanlamb self regulation failed cos reporting has failed- why would reporting to police be different? Encourage reporting-> safer

@DrCJohn @normanlamb Reporting has failed because clinicians can lie & falsify records with impunity. Police at least have 'independence'.

@C7RKY @normanlamb John regulation is not a problem. But regulators may be. Most doctors are scared to report. Blame humiliation, punishment

@DrUmeshPrabhu @normanlamb A little of both I'd say. Simple human behaviour - current rules mean being honest, holds more fear than lying.
