Sir Cyril Chantler, ex-pro-vice-chancellor, at APHG 26/2/14 "You do tell your GP things you don't tell your hospital doctor." @drphilhammond
.@Jarmann @drphilhammond Confusion all round then? Perhaps you could clarify your point for us @drol007? Thanks...

@C7RKY@Jarmann@drphilhammond@drol007 I don't think it good idea to have different 'opts' for diff sectors. Too complex. All confidential -
Many are happy to have hospital data shared, but not GP data. 10x volume & more personal?
@Cleverestcookie@Jarmann@drphilhammond@drol007 -
@C7RKY@Cleverestcookie@Jarmann@drphilhammond@drol007 I didn't know my hospital data was shared until recently. Not happy. -
.
@grannybiddy@Cleverestcookie@Jarmann@drphilhammond@drol007 I sympathise. Many didn't. We're certainly taking closer look now!#caredata -
@grannybiddy@Cleverestcookie@Jarmann@drphilhammond@drol007 BUT hospitals won't tell you if they're bad - trust me! It's only way to know -
@C7RKY@Cleverestcookie@Jarmann@drphilhammond@drol007 I found out first hand my hospital was bad. Living where I do I can't choose. -
@grannybiddy@Cleverestcookie@Jarmann@drphilhammond@drol007 Really sorry to hear that. I'm here for a reason too. Not my natural habitat.

@C7RKY@Jarmann@drphilhammond interested in cancer survivorship and long term effects I'd want an opt out for GP as HES is now so not lost -
.
@drol007@Jarmann@drphilhammond So you were suggesting opt-out system for GP data? Afraid 'consent by acquiescence' not good enough for me -
.
@drol007@Jarmann@drphilhammond There's no guarantee the 'informed' aspect of informed consent is satifsfied by opt-out. Cavalier, I think

I'm seeing whether would be OK to have to opt in to use of your GP data, but have HES properly done opt out.
@C7RKY@drphilhammond@drol007 -
That's something I'd be less uncomfortable with. 'Actuarial episode' hasn't helped the cause now though..
@Jarmann@drphilhammond@drol007 -
Patients could be told their hospital data will be used for their care (pros & cons) and could opt out.
